Duties and Responsibilities: Position Title: Mail Supply Specialist Working under the direction of the Project Manager and the guidance from Shipping Manager that support the day-to-day Mail, Shipping & Receiving operations for ARC as set forth in the Contract Task Order.
Ensure proper receiving, inspection, sorting and distribution of all inbound mail, parcels, equipment and freight throughout the NASA Ames Research Center.
Prepare, handle, process and coordinate all packages/shipments through the Transportation Office for inspection and final review prior to departure.
Pack, mark, label, store, inventory, clean up Hazardous Material (HM) in accordance with regulations and procedures.
Able to provide receiving and unloading of all mail, supplies, equipment, and materials coming into the Ames Research Center Mail Room Facility Provide x-ray and visual inspection of all inbound supplies, mail, equipment and materials at the NASA Ames Mail Room, Supply Warehouse and ability to follow and execute the proper procedures for any suspicious mail and/or packages.
Ability to perform Mail route delivery for all inbound mail, supplies, equipment and materials, Overnight priority parcels coming into the Ames Research Center Ability to verify quantities and description of supplies received with associated documentation and report all discrepancies in writing to the supervisor.
Designs and constructs suitable boxes and/or crates and provides appropriate cushioning materials for shipment of letters, parcels, delicate instruments, spacecraft components, aircraft parts, machinery, perishables, frozen biological specimens, etc Prepare, package and process outbound shipments utilizing USPS postal metering machine, UPS, FedEx, and other software systems for Domestic and International destinations.
Ability to move equipment and supplies to designated staging areas for timely distribution and other equipment and materials to designated Custodial Storage areas.
Provides daily and weekly vehicle inspections for Mail delivery vehicles, forklifts, material moving equipment and other Government and company owned vehicles.
Supports the company and NASA established goals and objectives, with emphasis on workplace safety policy and guidelines.
Minimum Qualifications: A clean DMV records.
Must be able to follow safe driving practices.
Experience operating a stand up and sit-down counterbalance forklift.
Ability to be certified with Supply, HAZMAT, Training, Quality, FOD, and Security programs.
Ability to lift heavy equipment/materials in excess of 50 pounds continuously.
