*GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF POSITION*
The Master Teacher must be able to consistently, and successfully perform all essential functions of the position.

* DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES* * Relate to all children in encouraging and positive ways.
* Facilitates the implementation of SJB Curriculum.
* Establish a climate of respect for each child’s individual personality, physical characteristics and traits, culture, language and ethnic characteristics, family structure, developmental needs and behaviors.
* Assist with the oversight of center staff nurture and facilitate the learning experience by meeting each child at their point of need through a variety of teaching methods, which include but are not limited to individualized care and small group experiences.
* Assist in providing leadership and guidance to children, families, and staff.
* Interact daily with each child and support his or her learning process.
* Provide direction, resources, and support to the program staff in planning, implementing, and evaluating program curriculum.
* Assist with ensuring clear expressions of expectations with natural and logical consequences * Establish and maintain a positive relationship with each child’s parent and/or caregivers.
* Support the whole family by providing tools, resources and opportunities for involvement in order to create a learning community.
* Provide directs support, engagement, and extension of a child’s play and learning experiences by offering assistance and providing resources.
* Oversee development and implementation of developmentally appropriate curriculum activities for children’s * Supervise and monitor the continual evaluation of each child’s progress.
* Assist with the oversight of center staff managing and implementing a positive approach of combining consistency, empathy, and culturally diverse practices.
* Assist with ensuring interest areas provide choices, opportunities for safe risks, and challenge children to interact, learn, create, and thrive while corresponding with the developmental and individual needs of each child, thus fostering the desire to learn.
* Participate in the orientation process of families.
* Assists in implementing SJB’s Staff Educational Plan: e.
g.
planning and conducting mini-training sessions and workshops; providing resources to staff, etc.
* ADMINISTRATIVE* * Plan, supervise, and implement the program in accordance with the policies and philosophy of SJB Child Development Centers.
* Assist in the planning and conducting of monthly staff meetings.
* Facilitate bi-weekly program meetings.
* Assist in monitoring enrollment capacity.
* Assist with the accurate update of records at site including but not limited to: enrollment, attendance, CACFP, daily logs, curriculum, child observations, and parent participation.
* Assist with bi-monthly Parent meetings.
* Assures that all proper documentation has been conducted by deadlines, (include, but not limited to DRDPR’s, ITERS, ECERS, SACERS, Environmental Rating Scales, Lesson Plans, etc.
) * Work in the capacity of Second in Command and monitors the daily operation of the center, responds to unannounced site visits by the Department of Social Services and Community Care Licensing as directed by Site Supervisor.
* Assist in the performance evaluation of center staff.
* Assist in the acquisition of supplies, materials, and equipment.
* Participate in interviewing, orienting, training, and terminating program staff as directed by Site Supervisor.
* Assists in the scheduling of staff in accordance with licensing requirements and site needs.
* Assists Site Supervisor, working with all departments to ensure all proper forms are completed and requirements met.
* Assists Site Supervisor with identifying, designating, training, managing, and mentoring program staff.
* HEALTH AND SAFETY* * Monitor the provision of a safe, secure, clean, and challenging environment for children, families and staff.
* Coordinate monthly fire drills, earthquake drills, and annual disaster drills.
* Report safety hazards and injuries the Master Teacher immediately.
* Follow health and safety standards for children, families and staff.
* OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES* * Travel when necessary to conduct SJB business.
* Support Site Supervisor in meeting all Licensing and Sub-contractor Regulations, Funding, Terms & Conditions, SJB policies & procedures, and the Education Code where applicable.
* Maintain confidentiality of children, families, and employees.
* Work as a member of the SJB team by promoting the mission, values, and philosophy of SJB.
* Network with community and early childhood professionals.
* Network with related outreach organizations to remain current on issues affecting children and families as directed by Site Supervisor.
* Assists with determining program/site needs and informs Site Supervisor.
* Monitors areas needed to assure the implementation of curriculum and state/SJB policies.
* Performs related duties as assigned.
* QUALIFICATIONS* * Experience as a Teacher in a group care environment.
* Current TB Clearance, physical screening, and First Aid and CPR Certification.
* Active Fingerprint Clearance with DSS/CCL and/or submittal of Fingerprint Cards with signed Criminal Record Statement prior to employment.
* Must possess California Driver’s License, and meet minimum insurance requirements for personal vehicle and have a driving record that meets the standards set forth in Administrative Regulation 4532 and 4533.
* OPTION 1* Current Master Teacher Permit *OPTION 2* 24 to 32 Semester units in ECE (including 3 core areas of “CUR”=Curriculum, “CFC”=Child Family Community, “CGD”=Child Growth Development") 16 semester units in general education (including "ENG", "SS", "MAT/SCI", and "HUM") Current Master Teacher Permit and 175 days of experience in last four years and six additional semester units in one area of specialization and Two additional semester units in adult supervision and 350 days of experience in last 4 years.
*OPTION 3* Bachelor's or higher degree and 12 semester units in ECE or child development and current Master Teacher Permit and 3 semester units supervised field experience.

Hear a child 50 feet away, kneel, crouch, bend, crawl, and lift up to 30 pounds; sit on a low chair/floor for a long period and reach a child on a high play structure safely.
