POSITION SUMMARY: This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility.
The Summer Day Camp Leader will assist with program quality and the planning and implementation of programs.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Plan and prepare specific group activities for each day of camp Assist in supervising a group of 6-10 campers ages 5-12 years old under the supervision of Day camp and directors.
Facilitate camper development in outdoor living skills, recreation activities, social skill development, values, multicultural and environmental awareness.
Is expected to interact in assigned activities with the campers and be alert to notify supervisor for specific campers' needs.
Practices, demonstrates and instills Project Cornerstone's 41 Developmental Assets.
Create a bully free and safe environment for all staff, campers and parents; Be a positive influence for campers, displaying appropriate behaviors and attitudes during camp.
Maintain good relations with day camp parents.
Enforce and adhere to camp procedures and policies.
Maintain camp equipment and supplies Follow YMCA incident reporting.
Immediately report incidents to camp director (or designated staff).
Performs other duties as assigned.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: The physical demands of the position include: Visual and auditory ability to observe and to respond to critical incidents and the physical ability to act swiftly in an emergency situation.
Ability to lead and interact in group activities and perform related physical skills.
Ability to stand, walk, sit, stoop, kneel, or crouch.
Ability to climb, push, and pull.
Ability to lift and carry objects up to 20 pounds.
Requirements: QUALIFICATIONS: Enthusiastic, Fun, Great Personality Ability to effectively interact with participants, parents, and staff Minimum of 18 years of age or older Prior work experience in a day camp or similar work environment is preferred.
Certifications: CPR, First Aid, Child Abuse Prevention & Risk Management.
Available on weekend and evenings as needed.
Will be required to travel locally to multiple work sites, should have car available for daily use, a valid California driver's license, and car insurance as required by the State of California.
SALARY RANGE: $24.
00 - $25.
