*Collections Intern* *Schedule: *20 hours/week for 10 weeks.
May require evenings and weekends.
Fall Cycle Start Date: mid-August 2023; Fall Cycle End Date: mid-October 2023 Spring Start Date: February 2024; Spring Cycle End Date: April 2024 Reports to: Registrar + History Programs Manager Location: 106 E.
Main Street in Los Gatos, at the Civic Center Plaza.
Remote work is a possibility, up to 25% of weekly hours worked.
Supervisory Responsibilities: None Salary & Benefits: * Wage $20 an hour, part-time, temporary, nonexempt.
* Temporary employees are not eligible for participation in the benefit programs offered to permanent employees, including vacation.
Temporary employees accrue sick leave at a rate of .
038 hours worked, with a 24 hour maximum for sick leave.
All employees participate in the legally mandated benefit programs such as Social Security and workers’ compensation.

*About Us* New Museum Los Gatos | NUMU, formerly the Museums of Los Gatos, was founded in 1965.
We’re a public non-profit art and history museum located in the Civic Center Plaza in downtown Los Gatos.
NUMU's mission is to engage the community at the intersection of art, history and education through innovative, locally connected and globally relevant exhibitions, programs and experiences.

Responsibilities Collections Care and Research * Under supervision of the Registrar, catalog 3-D objects: create records in CatalogIt, write descriptive texts, photograph objects and edit photos, and rehouse objects in proper archival storage materials.
* Under supervision of the Registrar, catalog 2-D ephemera, photographic materials, and documents: create records in CatalogIt, write descriptive texts, scan and crop high-resolution images, and rehouse in proper archival storage materials.
* Conduct art/artifact and provenance research - expanding the historical information and data for objects, artworks, and ephemera, as well as artists, donors, and history of ownership.
* Digitize and organize paper files and other organizational history.
* Any other internship-related activities, as requested by the supervisor.
Skills and Qualifications * Interest in museum work, particularly relating to collections management/registration * Enrollment in a Museum Studies graduate program or Museum Studies minor program preferred * Organized and able to multitask * Punctual and reliable * Strong problem solving skills * Ability to work independently * Possess strong comprehension skills.
