*About us*
MAGIC Dance Arts Inc.
is a non profit organization founded to provide creative outlets for young children in the South San Francisco Bay Area.
*Our classes are far from your typical dance class.
*We promote an inclusive environment where the classes will always cater to the individual needs of the students.
Not only do we promote inclusivity, but we also strive to improve overall child development.
From the time you sign up, we will collect data across each student's gross motor, communication, and social skills.
We'll use that data to drive our curriculum in a meaningful way; creating and smashing goals! In order to accommodate a sensory-friendly environment, lights may be dimmed, music may be lowered, and a variety of visuals and props will be used.
The curriculum was strategically designed by Chelsea Laxa, an educational specialist who has been in the field for over fifteen years.
Many techniques and principles have been gathered collectively from Applied Behavior Analysis, Early Childhood Special Education, and Autism Movement Therapy, thus creating a one-of-a-kind curriculum.
Each class will be taught by a lead instructor and at least one assistant.
Children are encouraged to participate as much as possible, but staff members and instructors are patient with individual student needs.
Parents, siblings, fans, and support staff (e.
g.
behavior technicians, speech therapists, respite caregivers, etc.
) are always welcomed to join in the fun.
While we can tell you every little bit about MAGIC, there is nothing like experiencing the class firsthand.
*What We're Looking For*
*We are searching for a dynamic and experienced dance instructor who is capable of instructing a young and diverse population.
* The ideal candidate has experience teaching creative movement classes to preschool-aged students and the ability to supervise teaching assistants.
A background in ballet, jazz, hip hop, and/or tumbling is preferred.
You will have the autonomy to develop your own class curriculum.
Our team will support you by recommending accommodations and modifications based on the individualized needs of your students.
In addition to leading classes, you will be required to record data on student progress, collaborate with families, and help train any volunteers.
*Materials:*
We will provide all props and materials but you will be responsible for transporting materials to and from class.
We are a "mobile" dance company and do not have our own studio.
We have a storage unit in South San Jose if you prefer to pick up and drop off materials rather than keep them in your possession.
*Pay Structure:*
You will be paid at a base rate for each class.
For every student who attends, you will earn a $1 commission.
All classes will have a max capacity of 9 students.
Pay raises will be granted quarterly based on ongoing performance evaluations.
*Location:*
Class locations may vary throughout the San Jose area based on your availability.
You will also have the opportunity to lead virtual classes if desired (in addition to at least one in-person class).
*Commitment:*
At the moment, we can only offer 1-2 classes per week.
This may change in the future as we reconnect with previous vendors and clients.
At least one of the classes will be based in a public school setting during school hours.
