RAFT is seeking an experienced Teacher (K-8) who is passionate about hands-on education, loves STEAM, and can inspire joy in learning.
The Teacher is responsible for delivering a fully-designed STEAM curriculum in our summer day camp.
We will look to you to work with staff counselors to engage our campers in hands-on learning activities.
This role will require an educator with solid classroom management experience and willing to follow RAFT summer camp facilitation guidelines.
You will leverage your teaching experience to further RAFT’s mission to bring the joy of learning to students through hands-on STEAM project kits.
By joining this summer program, you will be eligible to join our professional development training that inspires educators with a plethora of instructional ideas and hands-on learning materials.

Primary Responsibilities: Facilitate RAFT summer curriculum as written in facilitation guides, adapting it as needed to enhance campers' engagement Manage a classroom of up to 20 campers, creating a collaborative, fun learning environment conducive to group activities Provide supervisory support for 1 - 2 Teaching Assistants assigned to support learning activities Participate in at least 9 hours of onboarding training, professional development, and staff meetings before camp starts Establish and uphold a clean, organized classroom environment by instilling good habits of cleanliness in students.
Operate with minimal supervision from the Director of Learning Programs at the assigned site.
Participate in after-camp debrief Qualifications & Skills: Genuine interest in working with young children in education K-8.
Availability to commit for a minimum of two weeks, five days of a week, Monday through Friday.
Proven capability to swiftly grasp and facilitate new materials.
Possesses a creative, patient, and positive demeanor.
Ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage time efficiently.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Obtain a TB Risk Assessment & Fingerprint clearance (RAFT will cover the cost).
Education and/or Experience: CBEST, Valid California Teaching Credential or enrolled in/completing teaching credential program.
1 or more years of teaching or managing student program experience.
