Cristo Rey San José Jesuit High School is hiring for a full-time position with shared responsibilities in
two different roles: Athletic Director and Health & Wellness Teacher.
This assignment consists of teaching 1-2 classes of Health & Wellness while also managing our athletic program.
This unique position combines the leadership of an Athletic Director with the instructional expertise of a Health & Wellness Teacher.
This position will be responsible for overseeing the school's athletic programs, ensuring a positive and safe environment for student-athletes, while also fostering a culture of health and well-being through engaging classroom instruction.

Oversee the budget for athletics, ensuring responsible allocation of funds for equipment, travel, and operations.
Schedule games and practices, adhering to league regulations and promoting a balanced athletic calendar.
Secure fields and/or other necessary facilities for practices and competitions for sports we are not able to host on campus.
Implement and enforce athletic department policies, ensuring compliance with safety protocols and fair play.
Recruit, hire, evaluate, and potentially recommend the termination of coaching staff.
Serve as the administrator on site at athletic events, fostering a positive and sportsmanlike atmosphere.
Cultivate relationships with parents and the community to secure financial support for athletics.
Health & Wellness Teacher: Teaches knowledge and skills in health and wellness education utilizing curriculum designated by Cristo Rey San Jose Jesuit High School.
Works cooperatively with other teachers in planning, developing, and implementing a balanced health and wellness program.
Analyzes, demonstrates, and explains basic skills, knowledge and strategies of formal health and wellness initiatives Develops lesson plans and supplementary materials compatible with the division’s basic instructional philosophy and congruent with course; provides individualized and small group instruction in order to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each student and subgroups of students.
Establishes and maintains standards of student behavior to provide an orderly, productive environment in the physical education areas.
Provides appropriate safety instruction and makes safety checks on equipment and field areas to ensure the overall safety of students.
Evaluates academic and social growth of students, prepares report cards, and keeps appropriate records to include attendance reports, checklists, census forms, and other recordkeeping activities as necessary.
Maintains control of storage and use of school property.
Evaluates each student’s growth in physical skills, knowledge and contribution in team sports.
Communicates with parents and school counselors on student progress.
Supervises students in out of classroom activities during the assigned working day.
Administers testing in accordance with division testing practices.
Models non discriminatory practices in all activities.
Submit lesson plans when requesting sick or other leave from the classroom Leadership and Collaboration All teachers are expected to participate in the following: Serve as an advisor to a small group of students in Prides one day a week; help students to navigate their developmental journey during their time at Cristo Rey Serve as a moderator of student clubs and activities or a coach of athletic teams.
Serve as a chaperone/leader of field trips, immersion experiences, retreats, Christian Service opportunities, and other activities.
Participate in regular supervisory duties Participates in required substitution responsibilities at least 4 times per semester Understand and appreciate the developmental and educational benefits of the school’s Corporate Work Study Program Provide feedback and support to the student assistance committee and counseling team to identify and support students who are struggling behaviorally or emotionally.
Develop relationships with and meet the individual needs of each student consistent with the school’s belief in cura personalis, or “care for the whole individual” Participate in departmental and grade-level meetings to coordinate curriculum across the content area and better understand student needs Communicate regularly with parents/families via email or call to share academic progress and develop a supportive home-school relationship Participate in two days of office hours or scholar hour after school each school week Organization-wide Learning & Development Understand your own teaching practice as developmental.
Utilize available resources from colleagues and external sources to continually reflect on and improve your teaching Participate in the school’s professional learning community and instructional coaching, collaborating with colleagues to analyze student work and teaching practice.
Help to create a reflective learning organization for both students and adults.
Serve as a catalyst for improvement in your own classroom and school-wide.
Participate in the weekly professional development program.
Participate in the school’s Adult Faith Formation program, committing to living and supporting the Catholic, Jesuit mission of the school through continuous spiritual and personal growth and by serving as a leader of faith, service, and justice for our students.
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Serve as a chaperone at co-curricular events.
Serve as a prefect before school, during breaks and lunch times.
Participate in teacher professional development every Monday, grade-level team meetings, and other department or collaborative meetings as needed.
Other duties as assigned by the Principal or the Supervisor.
PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor’s degree with relevant major, and have a current, valid California teaching credential or masters degree in the academic field of instruction they will be teaching or be working to obtain the required credential or master’s in the academic field of instruction, and/or professional experience.
Experience managing people and programs, preferably at a school.
Ability to use teaching technologies, online and in-person.
Successful clearance of a background check, CANRA and any other state and federal requirements.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Stand or sit for long periods of time.
Speak clearly so listeners can understand.
Understand the speech of another person.
Hear sounds and recognize the difference between them.
See details of objects that are less than a few feet away.

SALARY AND COMPENSATION Range between $67,601 and $130,349 on a salary schedule based on education and years of experience.
Full time employees are eligible for the following benefits: medical, dental, vision, and retirement.
Employees’ premiums are covered for medical, dental and vision at 100% and dependents at 50% if elected.
This position is eligible for enrollment in the group voluntary retirement plan – 403b.
Contract is 12 months.
