Swim Instructors teach people of all ages how to swim.
The students may include infants, toddlers, children, adolescents, and adults, including people with special needs.
The classes range from private lessons to groups of 8 depending on swimmers' ability.
Schedule
We are currently hiring lifeguards for year-round employment and summer only (seasonal) employment.
Must be able to work flexible hours, including early mornings and mid-days during the summer and/or year-round.
Selection Process
Applications will be screened and those applicants determined to have the best experience, skills, and qualifications will be invited for an oral interview.

Prior to appointment, applicant must authorize and successfully complete a reference check, a background check (fingerprinting for submission to the Department of Justice), and a Tuberculosis (TB) screening.
Examples of Duties
Essential Functions
Be familiar with the descriptions and requirements for each class level offered through the City of Morgan Hill.
Plan and execute a well-structured lesson plan that incorporates swimming techniques and water safety skills while creating a fun learning environment.
Adapt your teaching approaches to the age, experience, and ability of participants.
Perform equipment checks and ensure appropriate equipment is available as needed.
Maintain a constant watch over all participants, even while providing individual instruction.
Evaluate students and submit a completed report card to Supervisor in a timely fashion
Effectively communicate with supervisor, staff and participants.
Keep participants and if appropriate, their parents informed about their progress in the program.
Inform coordinator and/or supervisor of any safety issues or concerns.
Perform rescues, administer first aid, perform Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), and summon Supervisors and emergency personnel as required for injuries or other medical emergencies
Ensure the safety of all patrons participating in Swim Lessons; submit Accident/Incident Reports to the Supervisor within 24-hours of the incident.
Perform related duties as assigned
Qualification Requirements
Education:
Graduation from high school or GED equivalent is desirable.
Experience:
Previous experience as a Swim Instructor or Lifeguard is desirable.
Certificates:
Valid American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor certificate is desirable.
Valid Red Cross Lifeguard Training, First Aid, & Red Cross CPR for the Professional Rescuer certificates are strongly encouraged.
Special Requirements:
Position requires availability of 20-30 hours per week during summer, June through August, and 10-15 hours per week from September through May.
Applicants must be physically capable of sustained walking, standing, or climbing.
Applicants must be willing to work flexible hours; including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Applicants must be willing to wear solid color swim wear at all times when on duty.
