Kinship Academy is looking for a paraeducator in South San Jose.
Our program serves mild to moderate students, is based on the "whole child" model, and relies on positive behavior interventions and supports (PBIS).
We use the Zones of Regulation model for social-emotional development, and the Michelle Garcia Winner Social Thinking curriculum.

You will be working directly with k-12 students, with support from Special Education Teachers and Behavior Staff.
*Essential Functions:*
- Reports to the Special education teacher and the Principal.
- Provide student supervision to create a safe and positive learning environment.
- Academic support: facilitate academic skill development, implement teaching strategies.
- Behavior support: keep students on task, provide positive behavior reinforcement.
- Record student data.
- Communicate clearly in English.
- Assist in creating instructional materials.
- Implement program plans.
- Communicate and support other staff members.
- Participate in staff training programs to increase overall skills.
- Engage in school events during normal working hours (Open House, Back to School, Holiday Celebrations, etc.
).
- Complete on-site crisis intervention training (verbal de-escalation, physical behavior management).
- Physically able to interact with children (walking, running, lifting, pushing/pulling objects, etc.
).
*QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:*
- High school diploma is required, a four-year college degree preferred.
- Must complete Crisis Prevention and Intervention Training within the first three months of employment (provided on site).
- Maintains Fingerprint/Background Clearance.
- Physical examination W/ TB Screen.
