We are looking for an inspiring and dedicated Advanced High School English Teacher to join our exciting and developing new high school.
As an AP English Language Arts teacher, you will be literary minded, be able to display the intellectual vigor that is needed to present engaging lessons with great depth and rigor, thus preparing our students for higher education and beyond.
In this teaching position, you use your passion for your subject to inspire and teach higher-level content than what is typical of secondary students.
You work collaboratively with other teachers to create a learning culture in which diverse perspectives are challenged and tested in an environment of informed thought and collegiality.
We seek teachers who keep abreast of current world events and social issues of importance and then infuse relevant themes to deepen student engagement.
Language Arts concepts covered include writing and reading in a wide variety of genres and contexts, grammar, reading comprehension, and literary and rhetorical devices.
We expect our teachers to bring their own excitement and passion for their subject into the classroom to spark students’ natural curiosity and enhance their interest.

Primary Responsibilities: Develop and teach courses expertly with the highest standards for each student that challenges students, supports diversity, and demonstrates a strong commitment to student success.
Convey enthusiasm for intellectual inquiry and model lifelong learning, designing instruction that emphasizes critical thinking and real-world problem solving Collaborate with other teachers and staff members to form a community of smart, talented, and creative people who are passionate and willing to work in a professional and academic environment.
Teach higher-level content than grade standards in creative and interactive ways that display your passion for the subject and educate students at an internationally competitive level.
Keep parents informed about the learning of their children, and be proactive in communication with parents.
Support the well-being of all students Demonstrate interest and ability to serve as an advisor to students, lead student activities, serve as a club advisor, and contribute beyond the classroom to support school programs and activities Demonstrated commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion of people and programs Participate actively in other aspects of the student experience and school functioning: chaperoning trips and events, serving on committees, and developing new programs at the school Qualifications A bachelor’s degree (master’s preferred) in a field of study in or related to English Minimum of two years of teaching and training experience at the high school and/or college level.
Excellent oral and written communication skills, and experience teaching the craft of writing and research within the discipline A willingness to try innovative teaching strategies and formats.
Ability to implement differentiated learning/instruction as required.
Eagerness to build supportive relationships with students in and beyond the classroom A willingness to work actively and collaboratively with colleagues on curriculum development and alignment A commitment to continuous professional growth and an enthusiasm for lifelong learning An ability to create and promote an inclusive learning environment Strong organizational and time management skills To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
