Northrop Grumman Mission Systems (NGMS) in Sunnyvale, CA is seeking to hire a Principal Technical Trainer/ Sr.
Principal Technical Trainer.
The candidate will be responsible for required training for personnel on manual & automated activities.
They will also be responsible for developing training for equipment and processes including mechanical assembly, machining and various skills across the site.
They will work with subject matter experts to create appropriate training.
The ideal candidate is a motivated professional who self-initiates to apply knowledge of adult learning principles utilizing innovative solutions that meet organizational educational needs.
This training professional will collaborate with training staff and subject matter experts to identify, plan, create, design, test, implement, deliver, support, and maintain effective and engaging learning opportunities and training activities through a variety of modalities (self-paced, in-person, mobile, virtual, video, job aids, microlearning, articles, etc.
).
This individual will have experience in facilitating learning and improving performance by creating, using, and managing appropriate learning theories, cognitive and technological processes, and resources.
Must work collaboratively in a team environment across manufacturing and engineering disciplines to accomplish mission goals.
Must excel in a fast-paced mission-focused environment.
Must be able to meet rapid delivery timelines.
The NGMS Sunnyvale manufacturing facility has over 100 years of Large Machining and Assembly history, and is a leader in the development and manufacturing of naval hardware.
Areas of Responsibility include: Work with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to identify specific training needs and develop solutions Identify the best approach to training requirements including, but not limited to Mechanical Assembly hardware, simulations, job aids, microlearning, articles, videos, course assessment, examinations, and computer assisted and adaptive learning environments, testing, behavior-based assessment, and performance Develop range of instructional materials and products for technology-based courses, including online, Instructor Led Training, mobile, immersive and performance support (e.
g.
, self-paced guides, microlearning, case studies, job aids, and evaluations; scenario-based storyboards) Design and develop curricula to support program implementation across targeted audiences.
Demonstrate and utilize effective needs analysis, project management, course development, and evaluation skills Create and analyze assessments to evaluate learning effectiveness and instructional improvement opportunities, including pre-tests, post-tests, and knowledge checks Support train-the-trainer to qualify others for content delivery Adapt and present material to various knowledge levels through excellent written and verbal communication Basic Qualifications: Level 3 Principal Technical Trainer: Bachelor's degree in a relevant field and 6+ years of experience as an instructor/teacher or in electronics or electrical theory (OR 10+ years of experience in lieu of degree).
4+ years with Masters degree Level 4 Sr.
Principal Technical Trainer: Bachelor's degree in a relevant field and 10+ years of experience as an instructor/teacher or in electronics or electrical theory (OR 12+ years of experience in lieu of degree).
8+ years with Master's degree.
Experience developing instructor guides, student manuals, workbooks, job aids, and related materials.
Expertise in Machining, Welding and Soldering Heavy Machinery Assembly Technologies: machinist.
Preferred Qualifications: Experience with the Analyzing, Designing, Developing, Implementing, and Evaluating (ADDIE) learning systems Experience developing e-learning (e.
g.
computer-based, web-based training, online learning) that is delivered through digital media including Learning Management Systems (LMS), web, video, or mobile devices Self-initiator with independence to acquire and maintain technical skills for professional development 3-5 years teaching experience (will consider military experience) including designing and developing formal course curriculums, establishing workforce development training needs, developing goals and objectives, developing training programs, and applying the ISD process Master’s degree in Communication, Instructional Systems Design or Training & Development or related field Experience managing a virtual classroom environment Experience in selecting appropriate instructional methods such as individual training, group instruction, self-study, lectures, demonstration-performance, problem-based learning, student-centered learning, and guided discussion MAQEA Salary Range: $78,500 - $117,700 Salary Range 2: $97,400 - $146,000 Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results.
