We are in search of Archery Specialists for our 2024 Summer Camp! Estimated hourly range: $20.
65 - $24.
75/hour Position Summary Provide a positive environment for campers to learn and develop lifelong skills.
Plan and supervise specific camper activities that contribute to camp goals and individual camper development.
The activity specialist is responsible for planning, teaching and overseeing a specific summer camp activity.
In addition, this position is responsible for maintaining the safe operation of their specific area and the camp in general.
A thorough knowledge of their specific activity is required.
A basic knowledge of other camp activities is extremely helpful.
All instructors will be responsible for general camp supervision as well as evaluating junior staff and the camp program itself.
Qualifications Must be 18 years of age and have completed one year of college.
Hold current certification in both first aid and CPR, will provide training if needed.
Must have prior experience working with children.
Must have experience and required certification in Archery.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities Plan and conduct specific activity to promote camper self-esteem and encourage camper success.
Provide opportunities for each camper to meet the established goals of the camp.
Set a good example for campers and others including punctuality, dress, language and behavior.
Plan and instruct age and skill appropriate activities in specific activity, for group and special interest activities.
Develop a list of goals and objectives for their specific activity.
Complete weekly planning sheet for group activities, to be approved by Program Director.
Organize and set up specific activity site each day.
Complete rules and safety guidelines for specific activity area.
Supervise in scheduled areas as needed throughout the day.
Complete evaluations on camp activities, programs, and peers.
Maintain the equipment used in activity and assure its safe storage.
Complete both a pre-camp and post-camp inventory of the equipment related to specialist activity.
Attend and actively participate in all staff meetings.
Oversee and evaluate counselors and CITs assigned to their activity.
Assist in the setup of camp before opening day and in the breakdown of camp on closing day.
Plan for the safe operation of the camp activity and the safety of all participants.
Other Duties and Responsibilities Participate in camp-wide activities as scheduled.
Participate in one evening program per session as scheduled.
Help with supervision during some parts of the camp day.
Knowledge, Skill & Ability Requirements Ability to communicate and work with groups participating (age and skill levels) and provide necessary direction and instruction to campers.
Ability to communicate and train campers and staff in safety regulations and emergency procedures in their specific area.
Abilities to observe camper behavior, assess its appropriateness, enforce appropriate safety regulations and emergency procedures, and apply appropriate behavior-management techniques.
Visual and auditory ability to identify and respond to environmental and other hazards related to the position.
Physical ability to respond appropriately to situations requiring first aid and emergency responses.
Cognitive and communication abilities to plan and conduct the activity to achieve camper development objectives.
Working Conditions May be subject to extended periods of time standing or walking.
Majority of time may be spent outside resulting in exposure to extremes in either heat or cold as weather and temperatures vary.
Lift equipment/supplies weighing 20 pounds.
Stand up and reach, bend down to interact with children.
No hazardous or significantly unpleasant conditions.
Physical ability to respond appropriately to situations requiring first aid and emergency responses.
Cognitive and communication abilities to safely supervise and manage students while at play.
