Academic Year Adjunct Lecturer in Women's and Gender Studies Position Title: Academic Year Adjunct Lecturer in Women's and Gender Studies Position Type: Fixed Term (Fixed Term) Salary Range: Hiring Range: Salary will be between $10,210 -$10, 830, based on number of courses taught and years of teaching experience; benefits eligible.
Purpose: Purpose The Department of Women's and Gender Studies at Santa Clara University, a Jesuit, Catholic university, seeks candidates for an Academic Year Adjunct Lecturer (non-tenure-track) to teach 6 courses in the Women's and Gender Studies Department.
The Women and Gender Studies Department classes are Intro to Women's and Gender Studies,Film, Gender and Sexuality, Race, Gender & TV, C&I Gender in Transnational Perspective (Winter Q), C&I Gender in Transnational Perspective (Spring Q), Race, Class and Gender in the United States.
Basic Qualifications A Ph.
D.
in Women's Studies, Gender Studies, Gender and Sexuality Studies, or Feminist Studies is preferred, though applicants with a Ph.
D.
in Communication, English, or other closely related field, preferably with coursework in women's and gender studies and college or professional teaching experience, will be considered.
Candidates with an MFA or other professional degrees with requisite experience will be considered.
Responsibilities Teaching: 95% duties include but are not limited to: 1.
Teach a course load of six courses across Fall, Winter & Spring 2024-2025.

Conduct and appear at all assigned class meetings and exams in a timely and prepared way; 3.
Assign and evaluate assignments (written work, projects and exams) that align with the course description and course learning objectives, and provide timely feedback to students; 4.
Hold regular weekly office hours.
5.
Assign and submit student grades that are appropriate, accurate and fair measures of student performance to the Office of the Registrar by the designated deadline; 6.
Administer narrative evaluations approved by the relevant Department.
7.
Teach from an approved syllabus for WGST 134, WGST 50, WGST 144A, WGST 11A, WGST 12A, WGST 115.

Fulfill other instructional or academic duties as may be assigned by the Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences or by the Chairs of the Departments.

3 "Specific Functions Related to Service" defines service as "fostering and advancing the mission and goals of the department, the University, or the profession through contributions other than teaching and scholarship or creative work such as service on committees, participation in professional organizations and activities, and community service performed in virtue of their professional expertise or association with the University.
" Service may more specifically include attending department meetings, serving on committees, advising student organizations and honor societies, taking part in student recruitment/orientation efforts, and contributing to the accreditation or program assessment.
To respect the time and commitment of AYAL faculty members, service expectations must be commensurate with the full-time equivalency of the appointment.
Service is typically evaluated as 5% of the appointment.
Additional service must be included through an assignment letter as part of the faculty member's formal written appointment.
Service tasks relevant to your specific department or curriculum may be detailed here, such as Attending meetings of (specialized group like laboratory or writing instructors), generally held once a month.
Other minimal instructional or academic duties may be assigned by the Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences or the Chair of the Department.
