): $1,500-$3,000 per week Description of Position: Almaden Country Day School is seeking coaches/athletes to lead seasonal summer sports camps, under the supervision of the Summer Sports Camp Lead and the Summer Camp Director for the 2024 camp season.
Candidates must be highly organized, self-starters who are adept at one of the sports listed below.
A Summer Camp Sports Coach is responsible for the day-to-day management and instruction of campers in their charge.
Among other duties, Coaches manage their group(s) within assigned camps and support ACDS middle school service volunteers.
Summer Camp Sports Coaches have an opportunity to coach their passion.
Coaches have the chance to design a sports camp around what they love and share that with children.
They are also welcome to choose the age level that they are most comfortable with or teach a variety of ages.

Duties and Responsibilities: To perform this job, Summer Sports Camp Coaches must strive to perform each essential duty outlined below.
These requirements listed are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required to lead an ACDS summer camp successfully.
Maintains a warm and positive camp environment, while establishing and managing camp agreements/Positive Discipline guidelines effectively Creates a passion-led camp with enticing description to share and market on the ACDS website.
Creates age-appropriate lesson plans to satisfy individual/group needs while leading camp activities in various skill levels Uses a variety of teaching/coaching methods that enhance subject matter for campers Displays camper’s work and post photos/descriptions on Homeroom App, when appropriate and expected Supports campers and camp colleagues on a continual basis Communicates frequently with the Summer Camp Sports Lead, Summer Camp Director, and Summer Camp leadership team regarding camp updates, needs and concerns Cares for and protects the safety of the campers and is versed in emergency and disaster procedures Demonstrates ability to work with a diverse camp population including children from all schools in the area Yard Duties Requirements: Familiarity with current best practices appropriate to early childhood, elementary and middle school learners (depending on camp offering), in the context of a developmental learning philosophy Ability to teach campers of various age groups Aptitude in promoting student inquiry and collaboration Collaborative work style Personal characteristics: passion for working with children, optimism, flexibility, patience, joyfulness, sense of humor Ability to accept guidance and supervision from Summer Camp Administration Ability to observe camper behavior, assess its appropriateness, and guide/implement appropriate behavior management techniques using Positive Discipline techniques (training provided) Experience leading groups of children as a teacher, coach, camp counselor/intern, or similar comparable volunteer or employment experience Commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging Current CPR and Standard First Aid course completion (provided by ACDS if not already certified) Ability and willingness to appropriately identify and respond to any emergency Arrive on campus promptly and remain with students during camp hours Promptly notify administration if absences are required and write substitute plans if needed Preferred Qualifications: Knowledge of and expertise with inquiry/project-based learning Previous experience teaching summer camp Trained in Positive Discipline philosophy Education and/or Experience: Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university; AA degree or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

org Overview of Almaden Country Day School: Almaden Country Day School is an independent, pre-K through 8th grade school located in the Almaden Valley of San Jose.
