Job Summary:
The Group Exercise Instructor is responsible for conducting safe, effective exercise classes and assisting participants in achieving exercise goals while fostering a fun workout environment for all participants.
Using music as the foundation for rhythmic exercise, the instructor guides a group of participants adhering to the Club’s class formats and guidelines.
The GE Instructor will also promote participation in their own class as well as other instructors and other Club Sport activities, events, and programs promotion.
The GE Instructor may teach in the pool or studio.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Teach all assigned classes (in assigned areas: studio, outdoor, pool, Pilates reformers) on a consistent and regular basis, educating members on proper exercise techniques.
Arrive at least 10 minutes early for class to prepare; stay after class to interact with members.
Make your students' safety and enjoyment your number one priority.
Encourage long-term participation and member retention.
Be available to substitute teacher whenever possible.
Strive to maintain and increase your class size.
Convey warmth and genuine interest to the students: make eye contact, smile, use students' names, personalize the workout, even in a large class.
Utilize the group class setting to promote the group exercise department as well as upcoming club events and programs.
Commit to the position as a business professional.
Know and follow all club and group exercise department policies and guidelines.
Play music at volume levels that are safe for students, appropriate for the nature and intensity of the class, and not disturbing to the adjacent studio or to other pool users (if applicable).
Ensure all equipment and props are properly used during class and properly put away / stored after class.
This may include aquatics equipment, and Pilates reformer.
Report any equipment or safety issues to the Group Fitness Manager, Assistant General Manager and/or General Manager.
When teaching aquatics, report any problems with water clarity or temperature to Aquatics department management or Floor Coverage Manager.
Other responsibilities as assigned by department management.

Education and Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent.
At least two years related experience required.
This position requires Group Fitness Certification pertinent to their class teaching
Working knowledge of fitness industry software IE, Club Automation, GroupX Pro and any fitness club app.
Knowledge of fitness equipment, techniques, and exercise physiology, which may include water exercises.
Physical Requirements:
Must be physically fit to lead the class at the appropriate level.
Must be able to squat, bend, reach, jump, and spot.
May work outdoors and be exposed to sun for prolonged periods.
May work in the pool.
