*POSITION SUMMARY:*
Pinewood School is seeking a full-time 4th-grade Language Arts teacher for the 2024-25 school year.
The individual in this role is a professional educator who is passionate about teaching and meeting the needs of 4th-grade students within a rich and rigorous language arts curriculum.
*RESPONSIBILITIES:*
* Teaches Language Arts (reading comprehension, writing, grammar, vocabulary and spelling) to 4-grade students in accordance with Pinewood’s curriculum standards and objectives.
* Develops and implements effective instructional strategies to meet the diverse needs of students.
* Creates a positive and inclusive classroom environment where all students feel valued and respected.
* Uses technology effectively to communicate and to enhance teaching and learning experiences.
* Works with the 4th-grade team of teachers within a departmentalized school setting.
* Communicates effectively with parents on a regular basis regarding students’ needs and/or progress.
* Receive training in the phonetic based Spalding Writing Road to Reading Program
* Attends regular monthly faculty, grade level, and academic meetings.
*PHYSICAL DEMANDS:*
* Ability to spend long hours sitting, using computers and office equipment
* Ability to reach out, stoop, kneel, crouch occasionally to answer phones, maintain office equipment, retrieve items from overhead storage and carry files
*QUALIFICATIONS:*
* Bachelor’s degree in Education, Language Arts, Literature or a related field is required.
Master’s degree and/or a teaching credential is desired.
* Minimum of 3 years of experience in classroom teaching for 3rd grade and above.
* Experience teaching a middle school language arts class is desired.
* Possess cultural awareness and sensitivity.
* Strong interpersonal skills.
*COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:*
Salary range is $73,000-$136,000 and is based on education and years of teaching experience.
