SUMMARY: Under the direction of the Masters Swim Coach and the Recreation Coordinator the Assistant Coach is responsible for the oversight of program-related daily operations and administrative duties, and providing high quality coaching.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Includes the following; Provide assistance and information to all new athletes Provide information regarding team tryouts, clinics, and practice schedules Coach adult swimmers Assist coaching staff to create a developmental youth and adult swimming program Assist the Coach in coaching and coordinating structured workouts for the team Promote and expand the team membership through team building and a positive attitude Attend and assist at all scheduled Masters Swim Team competitions, events and activities Attend all team meetings and coach’s meetings Teach, instruct, and correct swimmers at every opportunity Actively promote open water, pool, and triathlon competitions Assist the Coach with overseeing and managing registration fees for all athletes and programs Provide ongoing communication to athletes, as appropriate, regarding updates in practice and competition schedules Set-up and put away all equipment as needed for training sessions Other related duties and coaching responsibilities as needed QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

KNOWLEDGE OF: Principles and practices of effective swimming techniques, goals, and objectives Relevant rules, regulations, policies, and procedures Principles and practices for providing high level customer service Social Media Swimming techniques and training methods Standard safety practices ABILITY TO: Take responsibility for the health and safety of others Establish and maintain effective, positive working relationships with coworkers and participants Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with a broad range of individuals Demonstrate swimming and safety techniques Recognize and respond to emergency situations EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: Must be at least 18 years of age as required by US Masters Swimming Experience or background in competitive coaching and swimming High School Diploma or equivalent LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
Ability to write simple correspondence.
Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification including First Aid/CPR/AED (within 90 days of hire).
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Must possess strong swimming skills.
Proficiency in using Microsoft Office PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

Work is primarily performed in a swimming pool environment, where stamina is needed to stay in the pool for prolonged periods and to perform moderate to heavy lifting of pool equipment or children and adults who may require removal from the pool.
Must possess the mobility to stand, stoop, kneel, reach, bend, climb, push and pull equipment, and swim.
Vison and hearing must be sufficient to see and hear adults and children in crowded and noisy conditions.
Must possess the ability to swim distances and dive to pool depths, as determined by testing/certification authorities, and to lift 150 pounds or heavier weights with assistance.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to swim; stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works outdoors in a pool environment with wet and slippery conditions.
Exposure to variable weather conditions; may be exposed to chlorine, acids, and other chemicals at Aquatics facility.
