Position Description The Department of Counselor Education (EDCO) at San José State University invites well-qualified applicants to submit materials for consideration as we anticipate welcoming a new tenure-track faculty colleague beginning in the 2024-25 Academic Year at the rank of Assistant Professor or Associate (Tenured) Professor.
We seek a candidate with professional experience in educational and/or mental health counseling within postsecondary educational settings, a record of successful teaching experience at the college level, a demonstrated ability to effectively partner with colleges and schools, an established record of scholarship, and a demonstrated ability of successful mentoring of students in research and professional development.
Ideally, our new colleague will have expertise and experience in counseling within community college and/or other post-secondary educational settings; and both should be skilled and demonstrably committed to supporting the development, well-being, and success of students whose racial, ethnic, gender, and/or sexual identities remain underserved within the postsecondary education sector.

Key Responsibilities The candidate will teach graduate courses in the master’s degree program in Counseling and Guidance, the PPS School Counseling Credential, and LPCC programs.

The candidate will mentor students in research and professional development, including supervising projects and theses.
The candidate will maintain a research agenda related to issues in counseling and PK-20 education.
