About Community Reading Buddies: For nearly 30 years, Community Reading Buddies (CRB) has been mobilizing Bay Area high schoolers to mentor younger students in literacy and ignite them with a passion for reading.

About the Position: The Program Coordinator will play a vital role in the success of the Community Reading Buddies program in the Bay Area.
The Program Coordinator will support the administration of CRB’s tutoring and mentorship program, which is expected to serve upwards of 250 students over the course of the seven-week program.
The individual in this position will collaborate with a variety of CRB team members to organize and facilitate high quality programming that closes the early literacy gap in the Bay Area.
Job Responsibilities: Oversight of 2 in-person CRB tutoring sessions each week.
This includes, but is not limited to: Facilitating training and discussions for Youth Mentors before and after each session.
Communicating with parents regarding student participation, attendance, and progress in reading.
Co-supervising sessions with additional CRB staff.
Sending email and text reminders to participants before and throughout each session.
Following up with and documenting absent participants.
Relationship management with a wide variety of stakeholders: Building strong relationships with Youth Mentors by engaging in frequent communication, sending session reminders, answering questions about scheduling and other issues, and providing support, coaching and encouragement.
Liaising with partners for Youth Mentor needs (i.
e.
, ensuring Youth Mentors from other organizations meet necessary requirements for organizations).
Partnering with parents and families of students as representative of CRB Resource creation and knowledge management: Collaborating with the CRB team to identify additional literacy resources and implement best practices among Youth Mentors.
Creating and updating Youth Mentor trainings as needed.
Synthesizing key programmatic elements to update program materials on an ongoing basis.
Monitoring and program evaluation: Reporting out progress for each CRB tutoring session.
Collecting and analyzing program data (i.
e.
, pre- and post-program surveys, feedback forms, etc) to further refine programmatic offerings.
Event planning and coordination: Managing logistics for occasional in-person events Administrative work: Data entry as needed.
Other duties as assigned Requirements: Passion for reading and literacy development Passion for youth development Experience working with students and young people Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide variety of stakeholders in a collaborative team environment Ability to lead and train groups of people; comfortability with public speaking Familiarity with Zoom and Google Suite; willingness to learn other tech platforms Located in San Jose, CA with ability to complete hybrid work as needed, both virtually and on-site.
Ability to work part-time; particular preference for candidates who have availability Monday and Wednesday in the afternoons and early evenings.
