* *Position Overview:* Music for Minors seeks qualified and experienced individuals to deliver weekly music lessons to TK – 6th grade students in the California Bay Area.
Educators will travel to multiple school sites per week to teach in-person music classes using MFM-provided curriculum and instrument kits.
Successful educators possess strong classroom management skills, experience with a variety of student age and ability levels, a musical background, and a love of working with children.
*Position:* General Music Teacher *Reports to:* General Program Manager *Classification:* Part Time *Work Hours: *6-25 hours/week during normal school hours.
Hours based on educator availability and school openings.
*Scheduling: *2-5 days/week.
Scheduling flexible.
*Work Location: *Primarily in-person at school sites.
2-4 online cohort meetings with Program Manager per month.
Sites across the California Bay Area, including: * North Peninsula (South San Francisco, Daly City) * Half Moon Bay * Peninsula (San Mateo, San Carlos, Redwood City) * South Bay (San Jose) *Compensation* * *$42+ / hour starting rate* * Paid training and professional development * Paid weekly planning time * Paid cohort meetings * Paid sick time * Eligible for 401(k) plan after 12 months of employment *Dates* *This position is for the 24-25 school year.
* * Employment Start: August 26, 2024 * Fall Training: August 26 – 29, 2024 * Classes Start: Week of September 9, 2024 *Essential Duties and Responsibilities* *In The Classroom* * Administer weekly music classes at school sites (30-45 minute class durations) * Use MFM-provided curriculum and instrument kits for at least 85% of each lesson * Establish and maintain strong relationships with classroom teachers and school administration * Follow MFM policies and procedures * Promote a love a of music in all students *Other Responsibilities* * Use paid planning time to prepare lessons each week * Participate in paid online cohort meetings * Check MFM-provided email regularly * Track number of lessons taught at each school site * Communicate all absences and schedule changes with Program Manager * Attend Fall Training in August *Qualifications* * 2+ years teaching experience preferred * Experience as a vocalist or instrumentalist * Comfortable singing songs with a class * Skilled in classroom management * Excellent communication and interpersonal skills * Energetic, flexible, patient, and enthusiastic * Love of working with elementary school children * Background check & TB clearance * Passion for Music for Minors mission *Physical Demands* * Ability to lead energetic locomotor and non-locomotor motions with students * Ability to transport curriculum resources between classrooms on school site using MFM-provided cart or other method *Work Environment* * Work primarily performed at school sites with a wide variety of sounds, noises, and temperature environments *Travel Requirements* * Travel required to school sites on assigned teaching days.
Periodic travel to MFM office.
* Average travel is within 20 miles of educator home location.
Further travel only assigned based upon mutual agreement.
