Okay guys, I'm not going to lie.
This was an aspirational gift from my husband and we both are eternal optimists.
But maybe you, aquarium expert and lover, can salvage this.
I painted the outside to be white (looks super modern actually, points for me).
We bought GloFish (Ooooo!) and the blacklight to make them shine (Ahhhh!) We even grew plants out of it for a white (wow) and instead of handing grow lights from the bar, we masked them in white baskets (how chic).
Then, life happened.
The motor broke (which filters the water from the aquarium into the clay pebbles, so the plants can filter and use the fish poo as nutrients).
And then, life got busy.
We didn't replace it and things got a little uncared for.
We got lots of snails that are working on the algae.
We bought and this will come with what's called an "aquarium vacuum".
And water conditioner (to get rid of chlorine from the tap).
And "good bacteria drops".
So if you are or know an aquarium hobbyist or someone who really needs a hobby.
And you'd love to restore this little ecosystem, that is definitely no beyond repair, but could use some love and nurturance.
