For sale is a Sprague and Carleton Furniture brand solid wood cabinet.
Sprague and Carleton Furniture was a small New Hampshire-based furniture maker founded in the late 1890s and out of business by the late 1980s.
This particular cabinet is constructed entirely of Rock Maple Wood.
No other types of wood are used.
Rock Maple, also called Sugar Maple, is a hardwood that grows in many parts of New England.
It's the tree that gets tapped for Maple syrup.
Rock Maple Wood should not be confused with Soft Maple Wood, which is a lot less dense.
This was likely made in the 1950s or 1960s when Sprague and Carleton still made their furniture entirely of locally sourced Rock Maple Wood.
By the 1970s and 1980s, they started to use lower quality woods for some hidden pieces.
Because the entire cabinet is made with Rock Maple Wood throughout, it's extremely heavy, weighing about 80 pounds!
The entire cabinet measures 30.
5" wide, 15" deep, and 28.
25" tall.
The flat top surface sits 25.
25" above the ground.
The top rail molding is 3" tall.
There is about 3.
5" of clearance below the cabinet, where the four feet sit.
There are a total of 12 drawers in the cabinet that slide out using simple force.
There are no metal sliders for the drawers.
There are five equal-sized drawers on the left side and another five on the right side.
The interior sections of each of these smaller drawers measures 6.
5" wide, 8.
25" deep, and 2" tall.
In the middle section is one top drawer and one bottom drawer, with the interior space of each drawer measuring 10" wide, 8.
25" deep, and 2" tall.
In between these larger drawers sits a large empty space that measures 11" wide, 12.
75" deep, and 10.
75" tall.
The manufacturing style for this cabinet is very high-end, as you can tell from their use of dovetail joints in the drawer sections.
[Please see Pictures 23 and 24 for the dovetailing.

The cabinet is in excellent structural condition.
It's built like a tank and is extremely sturdy.
All drawers push in and pull out with ease.
There is nothing structurally wrong with it.
Cosmetically, it's also in excellent condition.
There are some tiny scratches on some exterior wood sections, but most are completely un-noticeable, unless you are looking for them.
I can deliver this to you for free if you are located within 20 miles of my house in San Jose (zip code 95126).
Or if you live further away, I could deliver for a small fee.
I have an SUV.
But you'll have to assist me in pulling the cabinet out of my car and carrying it into your place.
It's simply too heavy for me to try and lift it myself.
