Interested in connecting with others that have no family (san jose west)

That title sounds weird.
What I'm trying to say is I have no family and I'd like to form strong bonds with friends that also have no family (or not much of a family).
I have no contact with my nuclear family.
They've either passed away or don't speak to me.
I have cousins but they all live in another country and I don't know them very well and we never see each other.
It feels lonely.
I have plenty of friends but they all have families, so when holidays come around it really sucks.
There must be others out there that don't have a family or were kicked out of their family for various reasons (religious, differences of opinions, abuse, etc).
My mother was extremely abusive to me when I was a child and when I chose to live with my dad, she was so mad she disowned me.
Nice, huh? So carrying that around for years has been a struggle.
My friends that came from more normal families can't really understand.
I think I need people who have been through something similar to connect with.
