We are seeking an experienced, successful, and engaged Utility Welder to join our team.
This position is expected to work out of our office at 2765 Lafayette St.
in Santa Clara and limited job-related travel may be required.
Position Summary: GreenWaste is seeking to fill the position of Utility Welder to provide support to one or more facilities.
This role is responsible for repairing and maintaining all containers and equipment used for waste, recycling, compost, and C&D collection.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities: Ability to read directions and notes on work orders Perform repairs and assigned preventative maintenance services.
Perform repairs, maintenance, fabrication, and painting on carts, bins, debris boxes, and equipment.
Execute welding tasks related to container and equipment repairs.
Review, complete, or assign repairs identified on Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports.
Conduct safety checks on vehicles and equipment.
Perform service calls for emergency breakdowns.
Maintain a clean, safe work environment in compliance with corporate and OSHA standards.
Ensure the proper maintenance of equipment and tools and the overall cleanliness and proper functioning of the area, tools, and the machinery after use.
Responsible for completing and checking all work for quality and thoroughness, including test driving and operating before signing off work as completed on the maintenance tags.
Must report all incidents to management, including all damage to vehicles and property immediately.
Attend all safety meetings as scheduled.
Follow all local, state and federal laws and regulations.
Work on special projects as needed.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Ability to communicate professionally and effectively with all levels of customers as well as management.
Ability to work well with other employees in a team environment and communicate to ensure safety.
Ability to operate vehicles used by the company, such as forklifts.
Ability to read, write, comprehend, and communicate in English.
Ability to read directions and notes on work orders Great time management skills and the ability to work well with others.
Qualifications: High school diploma or GED.
Minimum 1 year of experience that is directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
Welding/fabrication experience.
Painting experience preferred.
Acceptable DMV record.
Previous waste experience preferred.
Heavy Duty diesel emissions testing certification and master technician certification preferred.
Great time management skills.
Language Skill: Proficiency in English and/or Spanish Physical Demands: Extensive physical activity.
Requires strenuous physical work; heavy lifting, pushing, or pulling required of objects over 75 pounds.
Ability to quickly recognize abnormal operating conditions and mitigate related hazards.
Work environment may be indoors in a shop, or outdoors to repair trucks on the road.
Usually, well-lit and ventilated.
As needed, may work in awkward or tight positions, and handle greasy or dirty tools.
Must be able to crawl under and inside vehicles to locate and work on problems.
Must be able to bend/twist freely at neck and waist.
Normal manual dexterity and eye-hand coordination.
Work Environment: Typical work week is Monday through Friday early mornings.
Will be exposed to outdoor weather conditions, noise, and odors/smells.
Ability to work in setting with frequent changes in equipment, start/end time, service city/town and routes based on the operational needs for the day and or week.
Schedules can vary, including early start times and evening start times.
Overtime and weekend work are required on occasion.
