*JOB DESCRIPTION:* The Sr.
Paralegal is an intermediate individual contributor position for paralegals in Abbott’s Commercial Legal Division.
· Interfaces with internal clients in preparing commercial agreements including professional services agreements, consignment agreements and confidentiality disclosure agreements · Provides legal services in support of business objectives and resolves matters for assigned responsibilities · Identifies moderately complex legal issues related to assigned matter and proposes solutions · Performs substantive legal work that requires knowledge of legal concepts including analysis, drafting, negotiating and consulting · Resolves routine and moderately complex legal matters in area of responsibility with minimal supervision from senior paralegals and/or attorneys · Assists more experienced paralegals and/or attorneys in resolving complex legal issues on projects involving multiple functional areas or divisions within Abbott · Develops knowledge of Abbott’s businesses supported and knowledge of the broader business impact · Keeps abreast of changes in laws that affect client areas · Represents Legal Division internally to clients · Helps maintain agreements in document management systems · Maintain templates in document management system and help prepare updates to templates · Support the preparation of legal presentations on various topics · Other responsibilities, as assigned.
*SUPERVISORY/MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITY* · Coaches and directs assigned support staff (may include junior paralegals and legal assistants) in their responsibilities · Serves as role model for Paralegals and Legal Assistants · Assists in selecting and recruiting staff members · Typically reports to Paralegal Supervisor or an attorney *POSITION ACCOUNTABILITY / SCOPE:* · Advises legal department managers of critical project developments in a timely manner · Executes core job responsibilities in a timely manner · Assigned matters generally have a significant impact on business activities and operations · Interacts across all levels of management · No direct department budget responsibility; must however operate within budget.
Develops estimates for outside counsel fees for assigned legal matters with supervision from more experienced paralegals and/or attorneys.
*EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE YOU’LL BRING* *Qualifications:* Bachelor’s Degree and / or ABA approved Paralegal Certificate or equivalent experience 4+ years of relevant experience Must have familiarity with basic laws related to applicable areas of responsibility Experience reviewing agreements/contracts and the ability to interpret and synthesize information from various sources to achieve superior outcomes Must be self-motivated and detail-oriented with high work standards High level of discretion, maturity and ethical integrity Excellent communication, interpersonal, proofreading and organizational skills, with a focus on continuous process improvement Ability to multitask, work independently and efficiently in a fast-paced environment, proactively thinking through challenges and coming up with pragmatic workable solutions *Thanks & Regards* Job Type: Contract Pay: $30.
