*Job Title: Director of Development*
*Reports To: Sr.

*Position Summary:* The Director of Development will support Special Olympics Northern California’s mission, vision, initiatives, and will be a key contributor to the organization’s revenue growth.
The Director of Development will execute to a revenue plan, provide leadership, direction, and oversight of continual key fundraising efforts.
These proactive efforts will increase support of Special Olympics Northern California from corporations, community partners and foundations, with a special emphasis on corporate engagement.
The incumbent’s primary responsibility will be to source funding opportunities to meet the organization’s revenue goals, as well as designing and executing plans to develop future annual revenue plans.
The Director of Development is part of a team comprised of staff that partners together to represent the organization while identifying and cultivating a constituency of new and existing partnerships that enhance revenue.
This includes but is not limited to: Sponsorship, grants, and other funding.
*Responsibilities/ Essential Functions:* * Develop new sources of corporate and community organizational revenue including, but not limited to: Program and event sponsorships, corporate giving, corporate grants, corporate engagement & employee giving, consumer campaigns, community giving, and third-party events.
* Maintain and expand existing sources of corporate and community revenue.
* Collaborate within Development department and across other Special Olympics Northern California departments to spearhead and develop fundraising opportunities.
* Collaborate with the Director of Events to expand corporate support and sponsorship of special events.
* Increase the level of giving for existing partners by executing successful engagement opportunities, including corporate volunteer management and appropriate stewardship for assigned corporate and community accounts.
* Take a proactive approach to the identification, cultivation, and solicitation of corporate and community prospects.
* Develop inspiring and strategic funding proposals, utilizing internal marketing and program resources that highlight sports, health, leadership, and school programs for SONC.
* Ensure effective follow-up and stewardship with potential and existing funders.
* Contribute to the design, production, and distribution of development materials.
* Communicate effectively with partners through in-person cultivation and stewardship meetings, donor events, and written communication.
* Establish and maintain a partner cultivation cycle and stewardship program to ensure that new donors are developed, have opportunities to increase their level of support, and enjoy a close relationship with Special Olympics Northern California.
* Assist the Sr.
Development Director and Chief Development Officer (CDO) with the creation of and monitoring of annual goals and objectives surrounding corporate and community giving, including identifying the resources required to achieve set goals and objectives.
* Support the strategic use of Salesforce as a development database for donor and funder relationship management; use Salesforce to maintain accurate & current prospect and donor records.
* Provide support to the CEO and CDO for high visibility corporate and community donors.
* Support special fundraising events, including managing volunteer logistics and day-of revenue.
* Collaborate with the Development team, Program department staff and Marketing team at Special Olympics Northern California to develop innovative fundraising and engagement opportunities and foster great experiences for the organization’s funders.
* Other duties as assigned.
*Qualifications, Skills & Experience:* * Bachelor’s Degree and/or equivalent work experience.
* Three+ years of non-profit fundraising and/or relationship-based sales experience with a proven track record of success.
* Demonstrated experience in non-profit fundraising and/or corporate sponsorship sales.
* Event, fundraising and/or business-related degree or equivalent professional qualification.
* Familiarity with non-profit organizations and fundraising principles and practices.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to write persuasively and strong presentation skills.
* Strong organizational/priority management skills, including excellent attention to detail.
* Experience with relational database software (Salesforce preferred).
* Excellent computer skills, specifically the Microsoft Suite, including Teams, and excellent internet research skills.
* Ability to successfully exercise independent judgment and discretion to reach your goals; able to effectively manage sometimes conflicting priorities in a multi-faceted, time-sensitive environment.
* Willingness to work occasional nights and weekends based on the organization’s scheduled events and other business needs.
