Oral Board Interview: TBDDepartment Interview: TBD THE POSITION: Under the direction of the Senior Building Inspector, the Building Inspector performs skilled tasks in the enforcement of applicable codes through the inspection of new construction and remodeling work on residential, commercial, and industrial structures.
The primary responsibilities of the position include: reviewing and checking building plans and providing information concerning code requirements and Department policies regarding construction and remodeling projects; conducting inspections at various stages and upon completion to ensure conformity with plans, applicable codes and regulations; and consulting with contractors, owners, and other appropriate parties to assist in the correction of design not covered by the building plans.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Completion of High School or equivalent.
Two years of journey-level inspection services experience in a city or county, construction trades, or as a contractor.
A two-year college degree or equivalent in Building Inspection may substitute for one year of the required experience.
Possession of a Valid California Class C driver’s license (DMV driving record printout dated within the last three months is required with application).
Desirable: Possession of ICC Building Inspector Certification, or obtainment within 6 months of hire, is highly desirable but not required.
