The Director, Strategic Procurement is responsible for developing and executing sourcing strategies, managing supplier relationships that meet and exceed product quality targets, identifying secondary or new sources of supply, Managing the MRP System, the warehouse, logistics and achieving service and cost improvement targets.
The individual in this role will also collaborate with cross-functional partners in Supply Chain, Manufacturing and Operations, Commercial, Quality, and Engineering, to achieve objectives and collaborate with stakeholders to align on optimal sourcing strategies for continuity of supply and new projects.

A Day In The Life Of Our Director of Strategic Procurement Establish supplier selection criteria, visit and evaluate alternative suppliers, manage the RFQ process, and drive production supplier selection in partnership with Supplier Engineering, Design Engineering, and Quality.
Supplier Selection to include optimal total cost of ownership considering quotes, quality, supplier production processes, capacity and relationship as well as ability to support Design Engineering lead time needs and QA audits.
Partner with Supplier engineering in the supplier selection process and process to supplier to tooling strategy to cost reduction and validation process.
Lead sourcing efforts, including visiting all NM production suppliers to establish suppliers’ capability and build trust and relationships.
Ensure that trips are documented in trip reports.
Draft and execute RFQs and RFPs inclusive of analysis of vendor responses.
Create a contracting process, negotiate and execute contracts that deliver supplier performance and risk management.
Drive sustained year-over-year value improvement related to cost, capacity, quality support and service.
Provide source selection recommendations for new products that align with the strategy while building a comprehensive supplier database.
Drive early production supplier involvement with R&D to achieve development objectives, timelines, and cost.
Create and implement process supplier business reviews.
With Supplier Engineering and other NM functions, lead and attend on-site supplier visits for assessments, negotiations, audits, etc.
Create tiered supplier classifications and develop supplier scorecard processes that monitor the performance of suppliers (Quality, Delivery, Cost, Customer Service, Relationship, NPI support and other attributes).
Identify risks within the supply base and collaborate closely with stakeholders to eliminate or take mitigating actions for strategic risks.
Identify insourcing and outsourcing opportunities.
Manage tactical purchasing including executing bulk negotiated cost reduced purchases up to 1 year PO’s coverage.
Create and manage supplier contracting processes including executing multiple contracts per quarter.
Maintain strategic sourcing relationships and develop strong partnerships with suppliers.
Lead, Motivate, Manage and improve a team of sourcing professionals, Buyer/Planners both in the US and CN in areas of both strategic and tactical supply chain.
Lead, Motivate, Manage and improve the warehouse area/functions, executing transactions on time as in areas such but not limited to cycle counting, shipping and receiving.
Manage execution of the MRP system so that orders are placed on time.
Monitor and keep the MRP system updated and accurate with such areas, but not limited to, lead times, safety stock, and other key system inputs.
Travel as required and needed to insure success.
100% accountable to achieve results for above areas Other related duties.
About You: Bachelor’s degree in business or engineering.
10+ years of experience in a similar role, preferably in the medical device industry.
Strong negotiation and communication skills.
Excellent interpersonal skills demonstrating the ability to work with others in a professional, positive and collaborative manner.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and to meet tight deadlines.
Willingness to learn, possess a can-do attitude, and be motivated to succeed and grow.
Ability to work in a self-directed environment and research problems.
Excellent organizational and time management skills.
Proficiency in Google Suite applications.
Ability to multi-task with strong attention to detail.
Experience working in a start-up environment, helpful.
Ability to travel up to 33%.
Work Location: In person/Hybrid/Travel Consistent with applicable laws, an employee's pay within this range is based on a number of factors which include but are not limited to relevant education, skills, job-related knowledge, qualifications, work experience, credentials, and/or geographic location.
